 After the success of 2001's mad-cap charity cycle dash "the length and breadth of France", it surely begs the question - what now for 2003 ?Many frequent visitors to Dancing Octopus and those avid listeners of Stone FM will remember with wry smiles live broadcasts from towns and campsites across France during the two week race against time, in aid of The Donna Louise Trust. Construction work has now been completed on the Donna Louise Hospice at Trentham Lakes, and a big thank you must go to everyone who so generously donated to 2001's sponsored ride. But now our attention must turn to 2003: This year's activities are still in the planning stages, the route looks likely to start in Grenoble and head due North to the English Channel. From there the route will follow the coast west to Brittany, south along the French west coast, through Biarritz, and down into Spain, Portugal. This arduous route will then take in the sights of Gibralter before heading north to Barcelona and the French/Spanish Mediterranean border. Following the coast to Nice, the route will then head back in-land to finish at Grenoble. Dates have yet to be confirmed but a timetable of mid June is envisaged. Currently we are seeking a number of high profile sponsors to help generate the interest and media attention that made last year's ride such a success. We're looking for sponsors for the bicycle, for clothing, the tent and also for any necessary travel links. Minimum anticipated cycled distance will be 2,000 miles, again staying at campsites along the route.
